Privacy Policy

WalkQuote ("we," "us," "our") is operated by Daniel Hohnloser, a sole proprietorship doing business as WalkQuote. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Who this applies to

This privacy policy applies to anyone using the WalkQuote iOS app, the WalkQuote website at walkquote.app, and any public quote viewer pages we generate (e.g., walkquote.app/q?id=xxx).

2. What data we collect

Information you provide directly

• Account info: name, email address, business name, phone number (optional)
• Voice recordings: the audio you record when creating a quote
• Quote data: client names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, line items, notes — whatever you enter or speak about while creating quotes
• Logo and business profile: any logo image and contact details you upload

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: which features you tap, when you create or send quotes, basic interaction patterns (used to fix bugs and improve the product)
• Crash and performance data: when the app crashes or performs poorly, so we can fix it
• Subscription state: whether you have a free or paid plan (managed via RevenueCat over Apple's StoreKit)

3. Third-party AI services we use

To deliver WalkQuote's voice-to-quote feature, we send specific data to two third-party AI services. We disclose this clearly so you know exactly what happens to your data and can make an informed decision before using these features. When you first launch the app after signing in, you are shown a consent screen describing this — you must explicitly agree before any AI features become accessible.

OpenAI Whisper (audio transcription)

• What we send: The audio recording you create when generating a quote.
• What they do with it: Convert the audio into text and return the transcript to our servers.
• Retention: Per OpenAI's API terms, audio sent to the Whisper API is retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted.
• Training: OpenAI does NOT use API inputs to train their models, per their commercial terms.

Anthropic Claude (line item extraction)

• What we send: The text transcript from the voice recording.
• What they do with it: Parse it into structured line items (materials, labor, prices) and return the structured data.
• Retention: Per Anthropic's commercial terms, API data is retained for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then deleted.
• Training: Anthropic does NOT use API inputs to train their models, per their commercial terms.

What stays on your device and our servers

Your client information, business details, logo, and final quotes are stored on your device and in our Supabase database (located in the United States). This data is NOT sent to OpenAI or Anthropic.

4. How we store your data

All quote data, audio recordings, and account information are stored in Supabase, a managed Postgres + storage provider. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Your data is private to your account; no one else (including other WalkQuote users) can see it.

5. What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal data
• We do not share your data with advertisers
• We do not show ads in the app
• We do not use your voice recordings or quotes to train AI models
• We do not access your contacts, photos, or location (except job addresses you enter manually)

6. Public quote links

When you share a quote with a client, we generate a public URL (e.g., walkquote.app/q?id=xxx). Anyone with this link can view that specific quote. The link uses a randomly-generated identifier and is not discoverable through search engines, but you should treat it as you would any link you'd email — only share it with the intended recipient.

7. Subscriptions and payments

WalkQuote Pro subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store via RevenueCat. We do not see, store, or have access to your payment information (credit cards, Apple Pay tokens, etc.). All payment data is handled by Apple.

8. Your rights and choices

• Access: all your data is visible inside the WalkQuote app — quotes, settings, profile
• Edit: you can edit or delete any quote, line item, or profile detail at any time
• Export: you can export any quote as a PDF
• Cancel subscription: manage Pro subscriptions in iOS Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions

Account deletion

You can permanently delete your account at any time, directly from inside the app. Open the WalkQuote app, then go to Settings → Delete account, and confirm twice when prompted.

Account deletion is immediate and permanent. It removes:

• Your authentication record (email, password, sign-in identifiers)
• Your user profile (business name, defaults, email template, subscription state)
• All quotes you've created, including transcripts and PDFs
• All line items associated with those quotes
• All clients you've saved
• All quote events (analytics records tied to your account)
• Your uploaded business logo and any other files associated with your account

Deletion cannot be undone. If you have an active Pro subscription, please cancel it through Apple's subscription settings before deleting your account, since Apple manages subscription billing independently of WalkQuote.

If you encounter any issue with the in-app deletion flow, you can also contact support@walkquote.app and we will manually delete your account within 7 days.

9. California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) to know what personal data we have about you, request deletion of that data, and opt out of the sale of personal data. As stated above, we do not sell your data. To exercise your rights, use the in-app account deletion flow described in section 8, or email support@walkquote.app.

10. Children

WalkQuote is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
